Imports

File → Import is for local files only: Markdown (.md), plain text (.txt), DOCX, and supported PDFs. Google Docs uses a different path: connect the provider in Integrations through its secure OAuth workflow, then choose a document to import.

Google Docs imports use that secure provider connection to read the selected content. They create a one-way native copy in Skraib rather than a live linked file. Notion import is planned and is not currently enabled in the shipped UI.

Imports become native Skraib documents that you can edit, organize, and use as workspace context. Markdown, DOCX, and other supported structured text can retain headings, lists, links, and basic formatting where the source format provides it.

PDF: PDF import is available in the desktop app only and requires a selectable text layer. Web import rejects PDFs. Scanned or image-only PDFs cannot be imported; use a version with selectable text or copy the text into a document manually. Complex layouts and visual formatting are not guaranteed to carry over.

An imported local file or Google Doc becomes an independent native Skraib document at import time. Skraib does not provide live Google Docs sync: later changes in Google Docs do not automatically update the imported document, and edits in Skraib do not write back to Google Docs.
